Discovering Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum
After moving to Southern Maryland, I discovered Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum (JPPM). My children spent many summers at its wonderful camps, enjoyed Children's Day on the Farm, Native American Heritage Days, the 1812 Grand Tactical Events, Celtic Festivals and more. I participated in these events also volunteered with staff and others in the Patterson House gardens at Point Farm. I also helped redesign the Children's Discovery Room at the Visitor Center.
This is not only a beautiful park with wonderful trails to walk and wonderful views, it is also home to major research and archaeological facilities.

The following paintings are based on visual references collected over time with permission from the staff at the MAC Lab. They are not sized to scale, and objects are shown next to one another merely for the sake of creating a still life with found imagery. However, I welcome comments on the "little digs" set from the archaeologists working here at JPPM. From notes on provenence, whether or not the objects have it, to what they are or what they represent.

Jefferson Patterson Park is home to over five miles of wonderful hiking paths. This little group shows some of the woodland scenes you will come across. These trails begin in the woods to the right as you exit the visitor center. You can also explore some that are near the eastern woodland village. Follow any path and you will end up walking through the woods by the shore and along the farm fields, and all the way down to the pier at the end of the cedar lined drive. Many of the paintings I am making have their origins from these hikes. The following group depicts scenes from the woodland walks. |
