Flag Ponds Park changes often with shifting sands and tides. This year, sand pools had formed and the crabs decided they were great homes. I had quite a bit of trouble sneaking up on the crabs, but finally got a shot of about five of them before they scooted away. I brought the camera up two more times to catch the reflection in the water and the cliffs and sky. Then I went home and pieced them all together to form the composition that reflacted what I saw that day.

This is a very small painting of Calvert Cliffs, only 5 x 7". I Found the wonderful little driftwood frame at a Thrift Shop! Someone spent time collecting all the little bits and assembled it.

We walked all of Greenwell State Park in St. Mary's County one hot afternoon and came upon this beautiful scene. We were hot and sweaty, the bugs were all out in force, but we persevered, and were well rewarded for our effort. Greenwell is not always this hot and challenging. There are many lovely walking trails, a rose garden, old barns, and river views.
